Event Recap: IPMI 2024

One of the highlights of the summer season in the parking and mobility industry is the International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI) 2024 Conference and Expo, a gathering of the world’s largest association of professionals in parking, transportation and mobility.

Passport recently attended this year’s event in Columbus, OH and had the opportunity to connect with clients and other industry professionals and learn more about what is trending in parking, enforcement and curb management.

Pickin’ Up “Good Citations”

Passport brought the beach to Columbus this year with its event presence. The theme was not only a playful nod to the Beach Boy’s “Good Vibrations” but a way to highlight the growing demand for Passport’s Parking Enforcement Solutions, which empowers cities to easily and effectively manage parking, make data-informed decisions, and maintain compliance.

“Increase Compliance” Ranks as Top Priority Among Parking and Enforcement Leaders

IPMI is dedicated to creating an unparalleled learning experience for parking and mobility professionals. Passport kicked off the conference at this year’s show by leading a Learning Lab session, Beyond Parking Compliance: Driving Efficiency through Technology and Engagement.

Attendees heard from Brittany Yokley, one of Passport’s product experts, Russell O’Quinn from the City of Raleigh, and Muhammad Mansoor from LAZ Parking on building a foundation that expands beyond mere compliance, incorporating training for parking enforcement officers, clear signage and innovative technology.

The panelists incorporated an interactive element into the discussion, polling attendees with relevant questions throughout the presentation. When asked, “What is your operation’s top enforcement goal?” 85% of participants answered “increase compliance” as their priority, with “improving the public-facing experience” ranked second by 48% of participants.

Another finding was that 36% of participants agreed that integrations were the top priority in evaluating enforcement technology, with issuance application second and back office functionality third.

Celebrations & Supporting Local

With hundreds of clients nationwide, it’s not every day the Passport team can connect and spend time with clients and partners in person. During the conference, the team took advantage of this once-a-year opportunity to celebrate IPMI by hosting an invite-only reception at Columbus’ tallest rooftop.

Another important element of IPMI’s Conference & Expo is the opportunity to support local organizations. At the Opening Welcome Event, Passport CEO Khristian Gutierrez volunteered to be “dunked” at Duncan Solution’s charity dunk tank, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Central Ohio.

IPMI 2024 was a fantastic show, and we look forward to continuing the “Good Citations” at next year’s show in Louisville, KY!
