General Questions

Why doesn't the meter change?

Hey, chances are that meter doesn’t communicate! It probably doesn't have any super awesome tech in it so there's no way it can be updated. The enforcement team runs around with high-tech handhelds and can see you are paid. Don't sweat it.

How will the enforcement team know that I paid for parking?

Parking enforcement officers have a handheld device that shows them you have successfully paid through the MacKay Pay system.

What is the zone number / How do I find it?

Zone numbers can be found on posted signs or decals where MacKay Pay Mobile Pay is available. The Zone number represents the location you are parked in. If you are at the 'Enter Zone' screen, you are ready to park!

Setting Up Your MacKay Pay Account

How do I use the MacKay Pay app / How do I pay with my phone?

Download the MacKay Pay app from the App Store or Google Play. A web version is also available at mackaypay.ppprk.com. Please note: your wireless carrier’s message and data rates may apply.

What devices and browsers support the MacKay Pay app the best?

We highly recommend using Apple or Android for downloading the application. When using mobile pay web, modern browsers such as Chrome, FireFox and Safari are the most compatible.

Why are you guys using Facebook to sign in?

To get you parked super fast and to personalize your app experience. With Facebook we can get you parked in under a minute and we don't have to ask you for your name or your email address. Facebook integration also helps us help you find parking discounts. We can't do that without Facebook.

Am I enrolling in anything automatic?

No. MacKay Pay is a parking application that will only charge your card when you tell us to. Just let us know when you start parking and how long you would like to stay and we'll charge you accordingly. Please note that some zones have restrictions on how long you can park - please check the signage on site!

Is my information secure?

Here at MacKay Meters, we take securing our customers data extremely seriously. We follow very strict security standards set by the payment card industry. This includes routine external audits of our system's security as well as transmitting all data over SSL-encrypted communication channels.

Paying for your Parking

My friend wants to park but doesn't have a smartphone, what should I tell them?

Many of our locations allow users with cell phones the ability to pay for parking by calling our interactive voice system. MacKay uses local phone numbers, rather than a generic 800 number, for the voice system. Please see signage posted in your area for the number to call.

PLEASE NOTE: MacKay Pay only handles issues regarding mobile payments. The local phone number listed on signage is for PAYING BY PHONE ONLY. For questions regarding parking meters other non-mobile payment-related issues, please contact the lot's operator.

What is a validation code and how can I use one to discount my parking?

MacKay Pay's discount codes are called "validation codes." These are unique 5-digit codes which local businesses can use to discount parking for their customers. Validation codes can be used in one of two ways, depending on if you've started a parking session.

If you haven't started a session yet:

In the MacKay Pay app or mobile web application, begin a parking session by entering your Zone number, space or license plate number, and the amount of time you wish to purchase. Once you've entered this info, you'll be prompted to select a payment method. From the Payment Methods screen, select Validation code. You will then be prompted to enter your unique 5-digit code. You'll receive a pop-up notification letting you know your session has been successfully discounted!

If you've already started your parking session:

In the MacKay Pay app or mobile web application, click the Discount button on your session's countdown timer screen. You will then be prompted to enter your unique 5-digit code. Enter your code and click the Discount Me button. You'll receive a pop-up notification letting you know your session has been successfully discounted!

PLEASE NOTE: Not all locations offer Validations. If you do know see the "Validation Code" payment method or "Discount" button on the countdown timer screen, that Zone does not offer accept validations.

Can I park multiple cars? What do I do when I move my car?

Just click on "New Session" in the sidebar to start a new parking transaction. You are welcome to leave your parking session running if you have moved your car and would like to park elsewhere, or park for a friend!

Why won’t the app let me extend my time?

In some cases, parking spaces come with restrictions on the amount of time users can pay for parking. These restriction are set by the parking operator. The MacKay Pay service will not allow users to pay for parking beyond these limits and users will encounter a message when attempting to do so.

If I can't extend, can I wait until my session is over and start a new one?

Nice try, but the answer is no. Users will be locked out of purchasing another parking session IN THE SAME SPACE if they have already purchased the maximum time allowed.

How can I use my PayPal account to pay with MacKayPay?

You can use your PayPal account to pay for parking in select locations.

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click Payment. In the Your Cards screen, click the Add PayPal button. You will then taken to PayPal's login page and prompted to enter your PayPal user name and password. You will then receive a notification you've successfully linked your PayPal account with MacKayPay.

Managing Your Account

How do I view my parking history?

You can view your full parking history, get reports, and print receipts by going to mackaypay.ppprk.com. You can also view a limited parking history and email receipts in the MacKay Pay app.

Online

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click 'My Parking History.' In the Parking History page, choose a report for a specific month or selected date range and click the 'Get Report' button. Your Parking History (and transaction details) will then be displayed below.

Once you've run a report, the 'Download' button will appear next to the 'Get Report' button. This allows you to download an Excel spreadsheet of that report for further analysis or for reimbursement purposes.

In the App

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click 'My Parking History.' In the Parking History screen, you will see a list of your recent transactions. Click a transaction to see details for that purchase or to send an email receipt.

How do I get a receipt for my parking session?

You can get a receipt for a parking transaction in the MacKay Pay app or online at mackaypay.ppprk.com.

Online

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click 'My Parking History.' In the Parking History page, select the date of transaction for which you would like a receipt and click the 'Get Report' button. Find the transaction you wish to receive a receipt for and click the 'Send' button in the Email Receipt column.

In the App

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click 'My Parking History.' In the Parking History screen, you will see a list of your recent transactions. Click the transaction for which you would like a receipt to display transaction details. Beneath the transactions details, click the 'Email Receipt' button to email a receipt to the email associated with your account.

How can I change the first and last name on my account?

You can change your first and last name in the MacKay Pay app or online at mackaypay.ppprk.com.

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click 'Profile.' In the Profile screen, click the 'Update Profile' button. The next screen allows you to edit the details of your profile, including first and last name, email, and phone number associated with the account.

How do I change the email address on my account?

You can change your first and last name in the MacKay Pay app or online at mackaypay.ppprk.com.

How do I add another license plate number to my account?

When paying for parking, you may be asked to enter your license plate number. This is how parking enforcement officers will be able to tell you've paid for parking. After you enter your Zone number, select the state where your plate is registered and then enter your alphanumeric plate number.

To make things easier for our users, MacKay Pay remembers the last three license plates you used to pay for parking. Next time you're prompted to enter your license plate number, you'll see a list of recent plate numbers. Simply click the one you wish to use and you're on your way. It's that easy!

How do I add a payment card?

You can add a payment card in the Mackay Pay app or online at mackaypay.ppprk.com.

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click 'Payment Card.' In the Your Cards screen, click the 'Add Card' button. In the next screen, enter the card information and then click 'Save Card.' You've successfully added a payment card!

How do I change my payment card information?

You can change payment card information in the MacKay Pay app or online at mackaypay.ppprk.com.

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click 'Payment Card.' In the Your Cards screen, click the payment card you wish to change. In the next screen, you will be able to edit that card's information.

How do I stop the alerts that I receive?

You can change payment card information in the MacKay Pay app or online at mackaypay.ppprk.com.

Reminders & Emails

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click 'Options.' In the Options screen, users have the option to turn reminders and emails on or off.

Text Messages

If you are receiving text alerts that you would like to stop you will, you will need to log in online at mackaypay.com and add your email so reminder alerts will go to your email.

Account Support

What is the difference between a verification code and my PIN number?

The verification code is a unique 3-digit code that verifies you have entered in the correct phone number or email. A PIN number is a 4-digit number of your choice that you will use every time you sign in to MacKay Pay.

The voice system is asking me for a PIN number but I don’t have one?

When you use our interactive voice system to pay for parking, you will be prompted create a 4-digit PIN of your choice to continue. Please remember that PIN number for future use as you will need it sign in.

How do I reset/change my PIN?

To change your PIN number, simply open the app or go online to mackaypay.com and click the ‘Reset PIN’ button on the first page. It will then ask you for your current payment card information on your account for security reasons. If you don’t know your old card information, please call the help desk supported by our partners at Passport Parking at (704) 837-8066 or email support@passportinc.com.

How do I deactivate my account?

To deactivate your account, you must go online to mackaypay.com.

When you log in, open the Side Menu (by clicking the three lines in the top left corner) and click 'Profile.' In the Profile screen, click the 'Deactivate Account' button. A pop-up will appear asking if you're sure you wish to deactivate your account. Click 'Yes' to complete your account deactivation.
