What costs are associated with ParkVictoria?
ParkVictoria is free to download and it’s free to sign-up. There is a 25-cent convenience fee when paying by credit card. However if you use your credit card to load or re-load a balance on your ParkVictoria “wallet”, there is no convenience fee. There are no fees associated with extending your parking session.
Why is a fee charged to pay by credit card?
The ParkVictoria app and mobile web application allow you to stop payment on a parking session. There are times when these payments will be low and the credit card fees will be higher, therefore a small fee for credit card use is charged. You can avoid this charge by setting up a “wallet” account, which enables you to pre-load a balance and draw from that to pay for on-street parking. There is no fee to pre-load or load a “wallet” when using a credit card.
How do I use the “wallet”?
After you enter a space number you have the option of paying by credit card directly or using the system’s “wallet”. At first, the “wallet” will load $10 from your credit card. Once this transaction is complete, you can access your ParkVictoria account and change the amount to re-load your “wallet” automatically with an amount of your choice when the balance runs out.
I still have an hour left on my parking time. Does this mean I’m losing $3?
The ParkVictoria app and mobile web application allow you to stop your parking session and only pay for the time you have used — essentially refunding any unused time. To stop a parking session, open ParkVictoria. On the “Parking Session” screen, select the “Session Options” tab at the bottom of the screen. Then select the “Stop Parking” option. You have stopped your parking session.
Is it safe to do a credit card transaction using the app?
Yes. Your credit card number is encrypted when you sign up and is never entered, displayed, or spoken during a transaction.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes. All transactions can be viewed by logging into your ParkVictoria account. You also have the option of receiving receipts by email or simply printing directly from your account.
How do Parking officers in Victoria know that I have paid using ParkVictoria?
Once you pay with ParkVictoria, the parking session information that you enter is immediately sent to the parking monitoring system.
I have a City Parking Card but no longer need it. Can I transfer the balance to my ParkVictoria wallet account?
Yes. Please bring in your Parking Card to the Customer Service Counter at City Hall and we can transfer the balance to your ParkVictoria app wallet account. We will also transfer the $5 fee for the Parking Card to your ParkVictoria wallet account.
Can I use the ParkVictoria app at coin-only parking meters?
You can use ParkVictoria for any metered parking space downtown. Each parking space is labelled with a four-digit number that you can reference when using the app to pay for on-street parking.
I’ve input my parking space number and ParkVictoria tells me the space is invalid. What do I do?
If you are at a numbered parking space downtown and the space is not in our system, simply park there and email us at parkingservices@victoria.ca and provide us the space number. We will make sure it gets added to the system. Please remain parked there and your ticket will be cancelled. Please do not park longer than the maximum stay allowed that is posted.
