Passport Introduces Campus Parking App for Simon Fraser University

Passport Canada app launches on the Burnaby campus

Burnaby, British Columbia — Students at Simon Fraser University will soon have an easier way to pay for parking on campus.

The University has announced the launch of Passport Canada, an app that will allow students, faculty, and visitors to easily pay for parking from their smartphones. Users can purchase parking with a debit or credit card, monitor their session, extend time remotely, and receive email receipts using the app. This will make parking easier on campus and save users the time previously spent at the parking pay station.

The parking app is powered by leading global parking app provider, Passport, provider of parking and transit apps for major cities across North America and Europe including Toronto, Vancouver (EasyPark), Westminster, and Chicago. The Passport Canada app is also available in other Vancouver locations including Victoria, Surrey, New Westminster, and Robbins Parking.

Beginning this summer, Passport Canada will be available at the following parking locations on campus:

  • Central Parkade – Zone 150
  • South Parkade – Zone 151
  • East Parking – Zone 152
  • North & South – Zone 153
  • West – Zone 154

“We look forward to introducing the Passport Canada app on campus this summer,” said David Agosti, Director, Parking and Sustainable Mobility Services at Simon Fraser University. “Passport Canada will save our students time and also help to make the parking process as smooth as possible. We’ve seen the success of similar programs at other universities and expect our students to quickly adopt this mobile option for payment.”

“We’re seeing more demand from universities to add mobile parking payment solutions,” said Nathan Berry, Sales at Passport. “As technology advances, millennials no longer appreciate the ability to pay for parking with their smartphone, but expect to have that option. We’re excited to play a part in the launch of a campus-wide parking solution.”

Simon Fraser University joins other universities across North America that are introducing mobile pay technology to their campuses. Passport already powers a growing number of universities, including some of the largest schools in North America such as North Carolina State, Michigan State University, University of Michigan, The University of Nebraska, The University of Central Florida, and The University of Florida.

Passport Canada is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. The app is available for use where Passport Canada signage is displayed and users can also manage their parking at Passport Parking Canada.
