Passport, the industry leader in mobile payments for parking and transit, has partnered with the Springfield Parking Authority to bring its mobile payment solution to the downtown Springfield area.

Passport’s solution gives drivers the convenience of paying for parking from their smartphone without having to hurry back to the parking meter.

Passport’s mobile app is now available in over 700 metered parking spaces. The mobile solution will eventually expand to 5,000 parking spaces throughout the downtown area. Users that take advantage of the app can extend their parking directly from their phone, receive notifications before the end of their parking session, and keep track of all parking history.

“A successful mobile payment program means more convenience for our customers,” said

Mary E. McNally, Executive Director of the Springfield Parking Authority. “We believe that Passport’s solution will make payments for metered parking much easier.”

“We’re thrilled to expand our presence in Massachusetts and partner with the Springfield Parking Authority,” said Alex Wells, Sales Executive at Passport. “We’re confident that drivers will embrace our user-friendly solution and it will become a part of their daily routine.”

The PassportParking app is free to download from the iPhone App Store and Android Google Play. Users can also manage their parking online at ppprk.com.

Passport is the leading provider of mobile payments for parking and transit, and has deployed mobile payment services in large cities such as Boston, Toronto, Chicago, and Salt Lake City. Passport developed the ParkBoston app, Boston’s mobile parking payment application.
